MIGDALIA CRUZ<\/strong> is a Bronx-born, award-winning playwright, lyricist, translator, and librettist of more than 60 works including: Miriam\u2019s Flowers<\/em>, El Grito Del Bronx<\/em>, Salt<\/em>, Frida, Satyrico\u00f1o<\/em>,  & FUR, <\/em>produced in venues\u2014across the U.S. and abroad\u2014including INTAR, Latino Chicago, BAM, Mabou Mines, National Theater of Greece, Houston Grand Opera, & Ateneo Puertorrique\u00f1o, An alumna of New Dramatists, she was named the 2013 Helen Merrill Distinguished Playwright, and was awarded a 2016 NYFA grant.  Current commissions: OSF\u2019s PlayON!<\/em> & Princeton University. In June 2018, Migdalia will teach her third Forn\u00e9s Playwriting Workshop at University of Notre Dame (Chicago campus).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT RETREAT<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Playwrights are welcome to spend their summer with La MaMa Umbria International in beautiful Spoleto, Italy. The selected group of playwrights will participate in writing workshops led by an award-winning playwright while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the Italian countryside. Past workshop leaders include Branden Jacob-Jenkins and Mac Wellman. 
The Symposium and Retreat are fully accredited programs of Sarah Lawrence College (2 credits for one session of the Symposium and 1 credit for the Retreat).<\/p>\n
